Weather and water historically August 18
We have looked back in time what the weather has been on the race date, ie August 18. In the 15 years we’ve looked at it has been most common that the wind was between 0 – 5 m / sec and seen throughout the day, it’s calmest in the morning. Two years there has been wind between 3 -10 m / sec, the strongest winds in the afternoon. It is mostly westerly or southerly winds.
The air temperature has almost always been above 20 degrees during the day with a maximum of 26 degrees.
For 12 out of 15 years, there has been no rainfall during the day. The years it rained, there have been 5 mm at all hours.
The water temperature is normally between 19 and 21 degrees.
