Bike Course
The Bike Course 2013
The bike course consists of two loops – first loop goes on Öland and is 122 km and the other on the mainland goes north of Kalmar and is 58 km. The bike course will be considered flat and fast.
Already after a couple of kilometers on the bike you will come to a spectacular part of the bike course – the Öland Bridge. The Öland Bridge is over 6 km long. The bridge was opened in 1972 and was Europe’s longest bridge for over 25 years. Highest point on the bridge is 40 meters. After the bridge you bike through the small port town Färjestaden and then in rural area along the coast. On Öland you will ride over the Alvar of Öland which basically is a treeless moorland area. The Agricultural landscape of Southern Öland was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2000. You return to Färjestaden before you ride back to Kalmar on the Öland Bridge. During the race you also have passed the small towns of Mörbylånga and Degerhamn.

After the loop on Öland you return to Kalmar for turning just before the transition area. Then you ride north again on Ängöleden and you bike through the northern parts of the city and then to the small town Lindsdal. Then the course goes through deciduous forest and agricultural areas through the villages of Rockneby and Läckeby before you return to Kalmar.

We will publish the altitude profile of the bikecourse later.
